Lotus Gemology

Lotus Gemology

“Lotus Gemology believes there is purity in simplicity. It is simple to make something complex—art is removing the noise, allowing one to focus on what is important. When we were looking for a Raman spectrometer for our lab, we wanted something where both hardware and software were tailored specifically for gem testing, where unnecessary elements were either hidden or removed. After seeing a demonstration of the GemmoRaman, we were hooked. Not only is the physical design pure and elegant, but this carries over to the software. The GemmoRaman is made by gemologists for gemologists. We recommend it without reservation.”

Richard W. Hughes is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on ruby and sapphire. The author of several books and over 150 articles on gems and gemology, his writings and photographs have appeared in a diverse range of publications. In a lengthy career, Richard has received numerous industry awards. Lotus Gemology started with a simple idea – beauty is the principle source of attraction for precious stones. Thus it should also be the major focus of gemology. In other words, the GEM is the most important part of gemology.

DSEF – Deutsche Stiftung Edelsteinforschung

“In 2015, the DSEF German Gem Lab and the German Gemmological Association acquired the GemmoSphere, the GemmoFTIR and the GemmoRaman, later also the EXA. We use the devices as addition to our research spectrometers in everyday work, as well as for off-side services and at trade fairs. Furthermore, we use the MAGI devices for demonstration purposes in our gemmological education, especially for our scientific classes. The devices can be used quickly and without special preparation and convince due to the fast measurement time. As the slogan “made by gemologists for gemologists” aptly describes, the software of all devices is particularly user-friendly thanks to automatic components, whereby valuable information is never lost, but can be worked out manually by experienced users at any time. For us, the portable decives from MAGILABS have proven to be an excellent addition to our stationary laboratory equipment and impress especially with the possibilities of mobile use.”

Dr. Claudio C. Milisenda

Director of the DSEF German Gem Lab

The DSEF German Gem Lab has been a reliable partner of the gemstone and jewellery industry since its foundation in 1969. Vice-Director of the German Gemmological Association

In 88 years of history the German Gemmological Association has developed from a one-man laboratory into a well-known institution of worldwide reputation. The main goals of the association are to support gemmology as a science and technique and the development of gemmological training and education. Following these goals consequently has led to the international reputation that the German Gemmological Association enjoys today.
Both institutes are non-profit organisations based in the heart of Germanys gem industry in Idar-Oberstein.

“IGE Lab trusts in the efficiency and reliability of MAGI Labs equipments.
As a director of IGE laboratory (Gemological Institute of Spain) I consider these instruments as essential tools in all gemological labs, it helps us to develope and grow in our daily dutties.
Since we adquired GemmoRaman 532, GemmoSphere, GemmoFtir and EXA our results are more precise especially to identify gemstone and their treatments.
We consider these instruments as a basic part of gemology even that we are the first education center that provide our students with a GemmoRaman 532 so that they can learn more ways of how to analize a gemstone.
I want to thank Alberto and Mikko for these tools that, for me, are the best in the market.”

“We are pleased to share our exceptional experience with the MAGILABS suite of instruments. Our lab relies on the Raman, EXA, FTIR, and UV-VIS instruments daily, and they have proven to be invaluable workhorses. Not only are they incredibly user-friendly, making it easy to train new operators, but they also deliver outstanding speed and efficiency for all our day-to-day gemological testing. What sets these instruments apart is their unparalleled focus on addressing gemological needs. Despite the availability of “higher” level scientific instruments, we consistently find ourselves opting for the MAGILABS suite due to their tailored design and remarkable performance for gemstones.

We appreciate the consistently excellent customer service provided by the MAGILABS team. Alberto and Mikko’s remarkable expertise and unwavering dedication ensure a worry-free experience with ongoing updates to libraries and software. We wholeheartedly endorse the MAGILABS suite of instruments. Their reliability, ease of use, and specialized focus on gemological testing make them our preferred choice of instruments. “Dorotheum relies daily on the scientific tools provided to us by Magilabs. The ease of use, efficiency and low-cost of the likes of GemmoSphere, J – Screen and GemmoRaman-532 makes it unthinkable for me to return to the era when I had to work without Magilabs as both appraisers and practical gemologists.”

ALGT – Antwerp Laboratory for Gemstone Testing

ALGT – Antwerp Laboratory for Gemstone Testing

“On September 3, 2019, the Antwerp Laboratory for Gemstone Testing – ALGT was officially established in Antwerp, Belgium. As an international laboratory, ALGT strictly adheres to the rules of LMHC and CIBJO to inspect each gemstone. It prudently specifies and accurately categorizes the grading of gemstones and diamonds. Such precision requires professional equipment, which is indispensable. This is why we chose MAGILABS equipment, including EXA, RAMAN/PL, UV VIS NIR, and FTIR. These pieces of equipment help us describe each gemstone, diamond, or piece of jewelry accurately and objectively, enabling our jewelers and their customers to have a correct understanding of our products. In addition, MAGILABS equipment is lightweight and portable, featuring a rich and accurate database that aids gemologists in comparing results. It is user-friendly, easy to learn, and affordably priced. Additionally, the equipment is of stable quality, and the after-sales service is excellent, with customer service responses being prompt. Any questions or issues are resolved quickly”

“I appreciate the compact yet very powerful capabilities of the GemmoRaman equipment. Though we already have Raman equipment, when we saw the expanded photoluminescence abilities of the GemmoRaman I knew Stone Group Labs needed it to complement the rest of our lab equipment. Not only can it identify thousands of different gem and mineral types, it can perform diagnostic functions. For me the imperative part of the GemmoRaman was knowing what’s inside….what you don’t see. Having the best engine under the bonnet is what this robust machine is about. That’s the important part.”
